Collaboration Tools

Is collaboration easier today then before? I question the lack of physical contact people make in business these days, it may be easier to work virtually, but their is a balance which must be achieved to get sustainably good business decisions and deliverables.
here is a link to a number of collaboration tools which could be of use for this

What people want

A famous Henry Ford quote sums this up well: "If we had asked people what they wanted they would have said 'a faster horse'."

Mr. Gladwell gives an interesting insight into what we really want here

The fountain of Knowledge for network Analysis

Mr. Barabásis's

Book "Linked: The New Science of Networks " is the piece of work which put me onto the power of networks. Trying to diseminate a pattern in the lives we live is impossilbe but by looking at how networks evolve and develop it is possible to make some small bit of sense of it all. Been looking around all week at the weath of network modelling tools available and their is hundreds. They create some amazing patterns! I have been doing a bit of reading on social captial and how it strengthens social networks. My real goal is to find a way of modelling social capital and the strength of a network to create a "social network " KPI suite.

Need to tease this idea out a bit more, but I need to find the business value in SNA.

The quest continues.....
